Aerosmith's set was chosen as my #8 favorite performance of 2001. This one makes the list more because of timing. Coming only six days after the events that led us into war, this show was more a celebration of America than a rock concert. Raucous, celebratory and life affirming, Tyler, Perry and crew provided me with the first smiles I'd had in a while as they lifted spirits with "Big Ten Inch Record." They spent as much time on obscure classics like "Seasons Of Wither" as they did on their more recent hits. Of course, the classic rock radio staples "Dream On," "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way" brought the flag-waving house down. More than once I saw people gazing at the sky watching planes come and go from nearby Atlanta Hartsfield with wary eyes mixed with thankfulness to see 'em up in the air again.
